Saftey:
The Public Safety of
our citizens has been and will continue to be a top priority for
me. I believe in effective use of code enforcement to uphold the
standards of our 'City of Gracious Living' while respecting the
rights of the individual property owner. I am an advocate of our
Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan that provides for safer transportation
and recreation.

Colonies
Crossroads:
Planning for appropriate
commercial and residential development in conjunction with the
construction of the Foothill Freeway is essential for the future
of our city. We are working to make certain this project is built
to the highest standards.

Youth
Activities:
As Chair of the Upland
Community Foundation Skate Board Park Committee I spearheaded
the effort to secure grant funds, in-kind services and private
donations to design and build this much-needed facility as set
out in our Memorial Park Master Plan. The Skate Park opened successfully
in October, 2002. Also, as Chair of the YMCA Program Committee
I have taken an active role in providing positive alternatives
for our children, like the Teen Center, Seasonal Sports, and the
Youth In Government Program.

Planning
and Development:
Preserving the high
quality of our community and eliminating "red tape"
is my goal for all construction projects. The Lowes Store, Coy
Estes Senior Housing, and George M. Gibson Senior Center are excellent
examples of how I have enacted this philosophy. Good planning
is the clear path to meet the challenges of the new millennium.

Town
Center:
During my time on the
city council I have supported the revitalization of our historic
downtown including the beautiful new streetlights, paving the
streets, restoration of the Carnegie Library, Citrus Heritage
and Upland Pride Murals. As a member of Main Street Upland, Inc.,
I have helped develop and support events like the Second Avenue
Market, Lemon Festival, Scary Affair, and Christmas Parade. I
will continue working to enhance this important part of our cultural
and economic history.
